How far in advance should I book my session? we typically try book anywhere from a few days to a few weeks in advance, Spring and Fall are the busiest seasons, they may require a little more notice.

How long will my session last? Really it depends on the type of session. Families usually are 45-90 minutes, depending on location, Babies about 45 minutes, (with the exception of newborns which are 2-3 hours), Pets are around 30-45 minutes, Head Shots are 20-30 minutes.

Where will it be? Most sessions are in our studio or outdoor garden studio on Mulberry St in Montgomery, AL,  but we are open to shooting on location as well. Those locations are discussed at your consultation.

How many people can be included in the photos? there is really not a limit, but it depends on the type session

Can I request specific photos to be taken (e.g. grandchildren/grandparents, solo of kids.) Of course!

Can our pets be a part of our photos? Yes, we love pets!

I know what kind of look I want, but I’m not sure what locations to go to in order to achieve it. Can you suggest options? Absolutely! We have lots of suggestions.

What should we do to prepare for the session? Take a look at our 'what to wear' link and make sure you follow your 'send my rooms' email.

What comes with the session? nothing unless specified (a limited edition session, print credit, etc.)

Will these images be posted online or any social networks? Yes, the purchased images will be posted unless you do not give us permission.

Will we have the option to use props? yes, we have lots of props in the studio, or you can bring your own

How do we go about securing our session? the best way is to call for a consultation, or request a booking here on our website

What time of day is best for a portrait session? We usually tell parents to schedule children's/family portraits around nap time if at all possible. For outdoor sessions early morning or late afternoon sessions are best for lighting.

How will we know how to pose? We will help guide you through the photo session.

How many outfit changes can we have? usually 2-3 outfits for babies, maternity, high school seniors. Families usually just do 1. Head shots may do multiple outfits as well.

What if my children act up on the day of the shoot and we can’t get any good photos? We will reschedule and try again another day.

I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it? Yes, it is my job as a professional photographer to pose clients in such a way that they feel confident about the way they look. This would also be a good thing to bring up at your consultation, so that we can plan.

How long have you been shooting portrait sessions? about 8 years

Can this session be done at multiple locations? that could be a possibility, depending on what type session

I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white? We will occasionally do a black and white edit if a photo 'speaks' that, but of course if you request it we will make an effort to do a number of black and white edits.

How many photos will I receive? you will receive only what you purchase

Do you offer professional retouching (e.g. blemish removal)? yes

How long does it take to get the photos back? usually around 2-4 weeks, but if something is needed sooner, it certainly is given priority

What products do you offer? we offer anything from gift prints, to canvas and frames, to albums and even hand-painted oil portraits. Come by the studio and see our samples.

Can the products you offer be customized? Everything we do is customized.

Do you bring an assistant with you? most of the time an assistant is on hand for every session

How much do portrait sessions end up costing? most clients spend anywhere from 1000-5000 on custom portraiture

Can I order more prints/products later? Only the images you purchase will be archived and yes, you may certainly purchase more at a later date.

Why do I need to come back to the studio to view and order the prints/products? We are very 'hands on' throughout your entire portrait experience'. We like to help you choose and design your custom artwork for your home. We have special software that enables us to allow you to view the images as they would look on your walls and we have lots of samples of frames and products at the studio to help in the decision making process.

What type of payments do you accept? we prefer checks, but credit cards and cash are also accepted

What other session fees or taxes are charged? sales tax is added to every order and session
